## A Cultural Cornerstone in Sharjah
Sohail Khawar, a prominent figure in Sharjah, has transformed a part of Al Mujarrah into a vibrant hub known as Pakistan Chowk. This area, rich with Pakistani culture, is home to various businesses including Al Nawab Restaurant and Al Hajaj Grocery, all initiated by Khawar.
## Building a Community
Khawar arrived in the UAE in 1979 and ventured into business in 2000. His establishments, offering authentic Pakistani goods and cuisine, have become a focal point for the Pakistani community in Sharjah. The area is affectionately known for its slogan "Watan se door, watan ki khushbo," which translates to "The smell of the homeland, away from home."
## From Humble Beginnings
Initially, Al Mujarrah was undeveloped, but Khawar's determination led him to personally promote his grocery store. His efforts paid off as the community grew, with people flocking to buy familiar products from home.
## Expanding Offerings
Khawar expanded his business by collaborating with his brother to open Pakistani Sweets and later Al Nawab Restaurant. These ventures have maintained their authenticity by using fresh ingredients, a principle Khawar holds dear.
## A Diverse Clientele
While Pakistan Chowk primarily serves the Pakistani community, it attracts a diverse clientele, especially during mango season and cultural celebrations. Khawar's success story is a testament to hard work and dedication, creating a legacy that continues to thrive in Sharjah.
