New commercial fraud regulations come into force in the UAE today

## New Regulations in Effect

The UAE has commenced the enforcement of new regulations aimed at combating commercial fraud. These rules, outlined in Cabinet Resolution No. (107) of 2026, require suppliers to recall counterfeit or tainted products within 24 hours of notification.

## Supplier Responsibilities

Suppliers must halt the sale and display of non-compliant goods immediately upon receiving an official notice. They are obligated to notify all sales outlets and ensure the recall of these products from markets and warehouses within the stipulated time frame.

## Role of Authorities

The Ministry of Economy and Tourism, along with other competent authorities, is tasked with seizing counterfeit goods and informing the public about the risks associated with such products. They must also ensure that suppliers provide evidence of compliance with recall procedures.

## Penalties and Enforcement

Failure to comply with the recall process can lead to the Ministry taking action within 48 hours, at the supplier's expense. Administrative fines up to Dh2 million may be imposed on those knowingly involved in commercial fraud, especially when it involves harmful goods.
