A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 struck off the coast of Indonesia's Flores region early on Saturday. The quake resulted in at least two fatalities and injured two others. The tremor caused significant structural damage, leading to the collapse of buildings and homes.

## Tsunami Warning and Aftermath

Initially, a tsunami warning was issued for several regions, including East Nusa Tenggara and parts of Sulawesi. However, the warning was lifted after authorities observed no significant changes in sea levels. Residents were initially advised to evacuate to higher ground.

## Impact on Local Communities

The earthquake, which occurred at 5:58 am local time, was centered 68 kilometers north-northwest of Ende at a depth of 10 kilometers. It was followed by several aftershocks. The tremors were felt across Flores, causing panic and leading to the evacuation of patients from hospitals. Temporary treatment areas were set up outdoors as a precaution.

## Damage and Casualties

In Maumere, a port terminal's waiting room collapsed, and at St Peter Major Seminary in Sikka, the roof of an assembly hall gave way during a morning Mass. One priest sustained a broken leg after jumping from a second floor.
