## Incident Overview
The United Arab Emirates has condemned an attack by Iran on a vessel belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) in the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a violation of international law and a threat to regional and global energy security.
## Violation of UN Resolution
The UAE highlighted that the attack contravenes UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasizes the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation and prohibits targeting commercial ships. The ministry labeled the actions as piracy by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
## Call for Action
In response, the UAE urged Iran to cease such hostile activities and called for the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE stressed that ensuring the security of this critical maritime passage is vital for regional stability and the global economy.
