## Tragic Loss and Dwindling Hope
In the aftermath of a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Colombia, the nation mourns the loss of a woman who was rescued after being trapped for nearly 37 hours. Daniela Largo, 32, was pulled from the rubble in Pereira, sparking hope among rescue teams and locals. However, she succumbed to her injuries, leaving behind a 12-year-old son. Her death highlights the diminishing chances of finding more survivors as rescue efforts continue.
## Rising Death Toll and Ongoing Search
The earthquake has claimed at least 294 lives and injured nearly 4,000 people. Authorities report that around 320 individuals remain missing. Rescue teams, using heavy machinery, are tirelessly working to clear debris in the hardest-hit areas, including Pereira, Cali, and Manizales. Despite their efforts, hope is fading, with many fearing the worst for those still unaccounted for.
## Government Response and International Aid
Colombia's new president, Abelardo de la Espriella, has been in contact with international leaders, including a recent call with US President Donald Trump. De la Espriella requested a temporary suspension of US tariffs to aid in the country's recovery. The US has already provided $26.5 million in aid, and Israel has sent humanitarian assistance. The president plans to declare a state of economic emergency to facilitate reconstruction efforts, as more than 14,000 homes have been destroyed.
