## Douglass Shines at Pan Pacific Championships

Kate Douglass made headlines by breaking the 50m freestyle world record twice in one day at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Irvine, California. She first set a new record during the heats with a time of 23.49 seconds, only to surpass it later in the finals with an impressive 23.19 seconds.

## Dominating Performance

Douglass's performance was unmatched as she finished significantly ahead of her competitors. Gretchen Walsh, who previously held the world record, took silver with a time of 23.74 seconds. Australia's Meg Harris secured the bronze, clocking in at 23.89 seconds.

## Additional Achievements

Douglass also competed in the 200m breaststroke, where she earned a silver medal with a time of 2:22.57, just behind Canadian Alexanne LePage. Meanwhile, in the men's events, Australia's Jamie Jack won the 50m freestyle, and Zac Stubblety-Cook claimed victory in the 200m breaststroke.

## Other Highlights

The championships also saw Chinese swimmer Yu Yiting upset world record-holder Summer McIntosh in the 200m medley, finishing first with a time of 2:07.45. McIntosh, despite a strong finish, settled for silver, while American Alex Walsh took bronze.
