## Major Asset Recovery in Iraq

Iraqi authorities have successfully recovered over $20 million in cash, 200 million Iraqi dinars, and 60 kilograms of gold as part of an ongoing corruption investigation. This operation is linked to the detained Deputy Oil Minister for Refining Affairs, Adnan Al Jumaili.

## Investigation Details

The investigation, which began in October 2025, has revealed significant misuse of state resources. Authorities have uncovered funds hidden in unusual places, including plastic water bottles and drainage pits. The investigation has also exposed the alleged use of government contracts for personal gain.

## Previous Recoveries

In July, officials recovered 358 kilograms of gold in collaboration with the Kurdistan Region, with an additional 17 kilograms seized separately. Earlier, investigators found 127 billion Iraqi dinars and $24 million in cash, along with 5 kilograms of gold jewelry.

## Ongoing Efforts

The Supreme Judicial Council continues to lead the investigation, with potential legal actions against other involved individuals. The case highlights the extensive efforts to combat corruption within Iraq's oil sector.
