UAE citizens can now receive scholarships for fully online university programmes

UAE citizens can now apply for government scholarships to pursue fully online academic programs at top global universities. This initiative, announced by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, allows scholarships for distance-learning courses from institutions ranked among the world's top 20.

## Exceptions and Restrictions

The Ministerial Resolution No. 179 of 2026 also permits exceptions for priority universities that may not meet the ranking criteria but are recognized for their specialized fields or strategic partnerships with the UAE. However, certain programs, such as MBAs and executive courses, are generally excluded unless offered by these priority institutions.

## Language and Flexibility

Scholarships are available for programs taught in non-English languages, with students able to complete language courses before starting their main studies. This flexibility aims to broaden educational access while ensuring alignment with the UAE's workforce needs.
