## New Procedure for International Travelers
Starting September 1, international travelers departing from India will no longer need to have their boarding passes stamped at immigration counters. The Bureau of Immigration (BOI) will accept electronic boarding passes on smartphones at all international airports.
## Implementation and Stakeholder Briefing
The change was communicated through an internal directive and has been shared with key stakeholders, including airport operators and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Airport staff are being briefed on the new procedure to ensure a smooth transition.
## Reasons for the Change
The decision to eliminate boarding pass stamping was made to reduce inconvenience for passengers. Officials noted that physical stamping often led to issues with readability and could cause delays.
## Continued Use of Physical Boarding Passes
While e-boarding passes will be accepted, passengers can still use physical boarding passes. However, these will no longer be stamped by immigration officials.
## Future Plans
The BOI is also considering ending immigration entry and exit stamping for Indian passport holders. A pilot project is currently underway, with plans to expand this initiative across Indian airports.
