## Nationwide Crackdown on Environmental and Animal Welfare Violations
The UAE's Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has closed 31 pet shops, bird markets, livestock outlets, and plant nurseries due to breaches of environmental and animal welfare regulations. This action is part of a broader inspection campaign conducted in collaboration with local authorities.
## Inspection Campaign Details
The ministry conducted 30 joint inspections, covering 269 establishments, including pet shops and nurseries. As a result, 104 businesses were referred for legal action, while 45 received warnings to address violations. Additionally, 16 establishments had their operations suspended until they complied with regulations.
## Licensing and Compliance Efforts
The campaign also focused on businesses operating without proper licenses. The ministry, in coordination with economic development departments, instructed these businesses to regularize their status and obtain necessary licenses, providing a grace period before enforcing penalties.
## Ongoing Monitoring and Legal Actions
The ministry continues to monitor social media for accounts promoting illegal activities related to environmental and animal laws, taking legal action against violators. This initiative is part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and protect animal welfare.
