## Incident Overview
A tragic accident at Heathrow Airport has resulted in the death of a 23-year-old Virgin Atlantic engineer. Georgie Buxton was performing maintenance on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner when heavy machinery collapsed on him. Despite spending four weeks in intensive care, he succumbed to his injuries earlier this month.
## Investigation Underway
The exact cause of the machinery collapse remains unclear, prompting an investigation involving Virgin Atlantic, Boeing, and relevant authorities. The aircraft involved has been grounded as a precautionary measure.
## Career and Tributes
Buxton began his career with Ryanair at Stansted Airport before joining Virgin Atlantic in 2024, seeking to expand his expertise. Virgin Atlantic has expressed deep sorrow over the loss, offering support to Buxton's family and colleagues. Heathrow Airport also extended condolences to those affected.
## Legal Proceedings
An inquest into Buxton's death is scheduled to be opened and adjourned later this week at West London Coroner’s Court.
