## Disciplinary Actions Against Argentina
FIFA has initiated disciplinary proceedings against several Argentina players following incidents during and after the World Cup final against Spain on July 19, 2026. The charges include physical altercations with Spanish players and the display of a politically charged banner.
## Specific Charges
Midfielder Leandro Paredes faces three charges related to post-match clashes, while defender Nahuel Molina has two charges. Additionally, coach Roberto Ayala is facing one charge. Molina and Thiago Almada are also accused of unsporting behavior, alongside Spain's Gavi.
## Political Banner Controversy
Following their semifinal victory over England, Argentina's team displayed a banner stating "Las Malvinas son Argentinas," referring to the Falkland Islands. This act has led to charges against Argentina's soccer federation for using a sports event for political demonstrations.
## Fan Misconduct and Other Allegations
FIFA's list of charges also includes "discriminatory chants and gestures" by fans, an alleged assault by an assistant coach, and objects thrown by spectators during several matches. The organization has given those charged the opportunity to present their defense before a decision is made by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
