Mashreq posts record H1 profit before tax of Dh4.8b as deposits, lending surge

## Record Financial Performance

Mashreq Bank has reported a significant increase in its financial performance for the first half of 2025. The bank's profit before tax reached a record Dh4.8 billion, marking an 18% rise compared to the previous year. This growth was driven by a surge in lending, customer deposits, and fee income.

## Growth in Deposits and Lending

During this period, Mashreq saw a 28% increase in customer deposits, totaling Dh227.2 billion. Customer lending also rose by 26% to Dh169.1 billion. The bank's total assets expanded by 25% to Dh365.7 billion, while shareholders' equity increased by 19% to Dh42.8 billion.

## Diversified Income Sources

Mashreq's operating income grew by 10% to Dh6.8 billion, with net interest income rising 7% to Dh4.2 billion. Non-interest income saw a 17% increase, contributing 38% to the total operating income. Fee and commission income grew by 11%, while investment income surged by 57%.

## Strong Asset Quality and Capital Position

The bank maintained a robust asset quality, with a non-performing loan ratio of 0.9% and coverage at 271%. The capital adequacy ratio improved to 16.9%, supported by a Dh7.1 billion increase in the capital base.

## Strategic Focus

CEO Ahmed Abdelaal highlighted the bank's focus on disciplined growth and investment in artificial intelligence and digital capabilities. Mashreq aims to enhance client services and support long-term growth through these initiatives.
