Indian expat woman nabbed for overstaying UAE visa flies home after legal help

## Detention and Legal Intervention

An Indian woman from Kerala, who was detained in Sharjah for overstaying her UAE visa, has returned to India following legal assistance. The woman had initially obtained her visa through an agent, with her family paying a substantial amount in Indian rupees. She then began working privately in the emirate.

## Visa Renewal Issues

After two years, her employer and the agent demanded Dh9,000 for visa renewal. Unable to afford this, she continued working without a valid visa. Her employer later reported her as absconding to immigration authorities.

## Arrest and Legal Proceedings

The woman was apprehended by a Sharjah Police surveillance team during a visit to a supermarket. Her family, unaware of her situation, sought help from local legislator Manalur MLA Murali Perunnelly, who contacted Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services.

## Resolution and Return

Through legal channels, Salam coordinated with various departments to secure an exit pass for the woman within two days. Yab Legal Services also arranged and paid for her flight back to India on an Air India Express flight.
