What August will bring to the UAE: Heat, humidity and rain

## Weather Overview

August in the UAE is set to continue the intense summer weather pattern, characterized by high temperatures and increased humidity. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts that the country will remain under the influence of the Indian seasonal low-pressure system and thermal lows from the southwest.

## Rain and Cloud Formation

The combination of intense daytime heating and the eastern mountain range is expected to encourage the formation of convective clouds. These clouds may lead to afternoon showers, particularly in the eastern regions, potentially extending to interior areas. The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) may also enhance rain-bearing cloud development during the first half of the month.

## Wind and Humidity

Local wind patterns will play a significant role in daily weather conditions. South-easterly winds are expected overnight and in the morning, shifting to northerly winds during the day. Occasionally, active southerly winds may raise dust, while north-westerly winds could strengthen at times. Humidity levels are predicted to rise slightly compared to July, with average relative humidity reaching around 47%, making mornings and evenings feel more uncomfortable.

## Temperature and Climate Extremes

The average temperature for August typically ranges between 34.7°C and 36.5°C, with daytime highs from 40.9°C to 43.2°C and overnight lows from 29.3°C to 31°C. Average wind speeds are around 12 kph, though historical records show wind gusts reaching up to 127.8 kph in Al Hayer in 2023. Maximum relative humidity generally ranges from 63% to 80%, and the highest recorded rainfall for August was 100.4 mm at Hamim in 2013.
