## India's Impressive Performance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the Indian athletes for their outstanding performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. India secured a total of 39 medals, including 13 golds, finishing fourth in the overall medal tally.

## Government Acknowledgment

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also commended the athletes, highlighting the country's improved performance in disciplines common to both the 2022 Birmingham and 2026 Glasgow Games. Despite a reduced sports program in Glasgow, India increased its medal count from 30 in Birmingham to 39.

## Future Aspirations

Mandaviya reaffirmed India's commitment to hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, promising a memorable event. The official handover ceremony saw the flag and baton presented to India's representatives, including Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra.

## Medal Breakdown

India's medal haul comprised 13 gold, 17 silver, and nine bronze medals. Although the total was lower than the 61 medals won in Birmingham, the difference is attributed to the fewer events in Glasgow.
