## Innovative Cooling Measures

As Europe faces a severe heatwave, Prague Zoo has introduced creative methods to help its animals cope with the soaring temperatures. The zoo is providing ice cream treats tailored to the dietary needs of different species.

## Polar Bears and Gorillas

Polar bear twins, Gregor and Aleut, are enjoying ice cream made with apples, carrots, mackerel, and salmon. Additionally, their enclosure is filled with up to three tonnes of ice for them to play and rest on. Meanwhile, the zoo's gorillas are receiving fruit-flavored ice cream, which is hung from ropes to mimic natural foraging.

## Adapting to Extreme Weather

With temperatures in the Czech Republic reaching nearly 41.5°C, these cooling strategies are part of the zoo's efforts to ensure animal welfare during extreme weather conditions. Zoo officials regularly modify feeding and enrichment activities to keep animals comfortable and active.
