Khorfakkan Port to receive record shipment of 6,068 BYD vehicles from China

## New Shipping Route from China to UAE

Khorfakkan Port is set to receive a record-breaking shipment of 6,068 electric vehicles from Chinese manufacturer BYD. This marks the beginning of a new direct maritime route between Shenzhen, China, and the UAE, aimed at enhancing logistics efficiency.

## Operational Milestone

The shipment, departing from Xiaomo International Logistics Port in Shenzhen, is the largest single vehicle shipment handled by the Chinese port since its inception in 2021. This new route is expected to reduce transit times by three to five days, offering a strategic advantage for Chinese exports to the Middle East.

## Khorfakkan Port's Growing Role

Managed by the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, Khorfakkan Port is strengthening its position as a key automotive logistics hub in the region. The port's commercial terminal, operated by Gulftainer, has seen significant growth in vehicle handling, with 24,675 vehicles processed by August 2026. The "Discharge & Drive" model has streamlined customs clearance, allowing vehicles to exit the port within 96 hours.

## Expanding Global Connections

Xiaomo Port currently operates 12 international vehicle shipping routes, connecting China with regions including the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe. This expansion reflects the increasing global demand for Chinese automotive exports.
