Worst celebration ever? Brazilian defender takes painful tumble into a tunnel

## Unfortunate Celebration Mishap

During a Brazilian Serie A match, Coritiba's defender Jacy Maranhão experienced a dramatic turn of events. After scoring what he believed was a goal against Chapecoense, Maranhão rushed to celebrate with fans. In his excitement, he leaped over an advertisement board, only to fall into an uncovered tunnel.

## VAR Disappointment

The incident took a further twist when the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) reviewed the play and disallowed the goal due to an offside position. Maranhão, who initially seemed to recover from the fall, was eventually substituted in the second half due to injuries sustained.

## A Familiar Incident

Remarkably, this was not the first time a player had fallen into the tunnel at Estádio Major Antônio Couto Pereira. Nearly a decade earlier, Cameroonian striker Diederrick Joel Tagueu-Tadjo had a similar fall while celebrating a goal at the same location. Unlike Maranhão, Joel's goal was allowed to stand, and he completed the match.

## An Unbelievable Coincidence

Adding to the bizarre nature of the incident, Brazilian journalist Leonardo Mendes Jr highlighted an unusual connection between the two events. The same security guard who attempted to prevent Maranhão's jump had also been present during Joel's fall years earlier.
