Usain Bolt's 100m world record beaten, not by a human but a Chinese robot

## Tiangong Ultra's Record-Breaking Run

A Chinese humanoid robot, Tiangong Ultra, has surpassed Usain Bolt's long-standing 100m world record. At the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, Tiangong completed the sprint in just 9.39 seconds, beating Bolt's 2009 record of 9.58 seconds.

## Competition Among Robots

Tiangong faced stiff competition from another robot, Lightning, developed by Honor. Lightning initially led the race but finished in 9.47 seconds, also faster than Bolt's record. Both robots demonstrated remarkable speed, although their finishes were less graceful than Bolt's iconic celebrations.

## Rapid Technological Advancements

The progress in humanoid robotics is significant. Tiangong Ultra's time has dramatically improved from 21.50 seconds in 2025 to its current record. Lightning has also shown impressive capabilities, reportedly achieving a top speed of 14.5 meters per second in tests.

## The World Humanoid Robot Games

This event, akin to an Olympics for robots, showcases advancements in humanoid technology. Held annually since 2025, the Games include 51 events, testing robots in athletics, football, and practical tasks like operating equipment and household chores. The aim is to enhance robots' balance, movement, and decision-making skills for real-world applications.

While Bolt's human record remains unbeaten, robots are setting new benchmarks in speed and capability.
