Frenchman arrested in Italy with anti-tank missiles in van

## Arrest at Bari Port

A 46-year-old Frenchman, Regis Normand, was apprehended in Italy on charges of arms trafficking. The arrest occurred in June at the southern port of Bari after police discovered three anti-tank missiles in his van.

## Discovery and Investigation

The van, arriving from Patras, Greece, was found to contain three Akeron anti-tank missiles, a training missile without a warhead, and a launch tube. These items were disguised as NATO training equipment. Normand claimed the missiles had been repaired in Crete and were being returned to their manufacturer, MBDA France.

## Legal and Corporate Response

Authorities are conducting further investigations due to missing transport permits and inconsistencies in the documentation. MBDA France, the missile's manufacturer, has not commented on the situation. A French source indicated that MBDA had a license for testing incomplete Akeron missiles in Greece.
