Champions League draw 2026/27: UAE time, pots, new rules and key details

## Draw Details

The Champions League draw for the 2026/27 season is set to take place on Thursday, August 27, at 8pm UAE time. The event will be held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco and will be available for live streaming on UEFA's website. The Europa League and Conference League draws will follow on Friday, August 28.

## Team Allocation

A total of 36 teams will participate in the league phase, divided into four pots of nine teams each, based on their UEFA club coefficients. Each team will compete in eight matches, facing two teams from each pot. Matches will be split evenly between home and away games. Notably, teams from the same country will not meet during this phase.

## Pot Breakdown

Pot 1 includes top clubs like PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Manchester City. Pot 2 features teams such as Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United. Pot 3 and Pot 4 include clubs like Napoli, Feyenoord, and debutants such as Como and Sabah.

## New Rule

A new rule for this season prevents the same league phase fixture from occurring at the same venue for three consecutive seasons. This affects teams like Arsenal and Liverpool, who have faced the same opponents at the same venues in the past two seasons.

## Fixture Announcement

While the draw will reveal the opponents, the complete schedule with match dates and times will be announced by UEFA by Saturday, August 29. The league phase is scheduled to start on Tuesday, September 8, and conclude on Wednesday, January 27, with all teams playing simultaneously.
