Jose Mourinho says Kylian Mbappe worthy of Ballon d'Or

## Mourinho's Endorsement

Real Madrid's coach, Jose Mourinho, has expressed his support for Kylian Mbappe to win the Ballon d'Or this year. He believes the award should recognize the best player globally, rather than being influenced by achievements in tournaments like the World Cup or Champions League.

## Mbappe's Achievements

Mbappe, the captain of France, is a strong contender for the prestigious award. Despite not securing a major trophy last season, he was the top scorer in La Liga, the Champions League, and the 2026 World Cup. His remarkable performance included becoming the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history.

## Competition for the Award

Mbappe faces competition from notable players such as England's Harry Kane, Spain's Rodri, and Paris Saint-Germain's Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. However, Mourinho emphasizes that the Ballon d'Or should honor players whose individual brilliance will be remembered long after they retire.

## Mourinho's Perspective

Mourinho argues that the award should not simply go to players who have won major tournaments. Instead, it should celebrate those who have made a lasting impact on the sport, akin to legends like Maradona and Messi. He suggests that if the focus is on tournament success, then coaches like Luis Enrique and Luis De la Fuente should be recognized instead.
