## New Highway Project

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has initiated a significant infrastructure project to construct a new highway parallel to Al Khail Road and Mohammed bin Zayed Road. This development, valued at Dh1.161 billion, aims to enhance traffic flow and connectivity across the emirate.

## Project Details

The project involves the construction of 17 kilometers of roads and 3.7 kilometers of bridges. It will serve as a strategic corridor, improving north-south traffic capacity by 18% and offering alternative routes to ease congestion. The new infrastructure will connect key residential and development areas, benefiting over 500,000 residents.

## Travel Time Reduction

One of the major advantages of this project is the anticipated reduction in travel time. The journey between Al Manama Street and Dubai-Al Ain Road to Umm Suqeim Street is expected to decrease from 30 minutes to just 10 minutes, a 66% reduction.

## Economic and Urban Growth

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of the RTA, emphasized that the project will support Dubai's urban and economic expansion by strengthening the road network and improving traffic distribution.

## Contract Details

The project is divided into two contracts to expedite construction. The first contract covers 14 kilometers of Al Meydan Street and includes a major interchange with a capacity of 14,400 vehicles per hour. The second contract involves the development of Al Meydan Street from First Al Khail Street to Muscat Street, featuring a multi-level interchange.

## Completion Timeline

The Al Meydan Street project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, aligning with the Latifa bint Hamdan Street Development Project. Together, these projects will enhance connectivity between major roads such as Sheikh Zayed Road and Emirates Road.
