Abu Dhabi is gearing up for the new school year by deploying over 10,000 school buses to transport more than 279,000 students. This initiative is part of efforts to manage traffic and enhance safety as schools reopen.

## Traffic Restrictions

To ease congestion, heavy vehicles and buses carrying workers are restricted from entering Abu Dhabi Island during morning rush hours, specifically from 6:30 am to 9:00 am, Monday through Friday. This measure is in place from August 31 to September 4.

## Safety and Inspection

The Integrated Transport Centre, under the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has ensured that all school buses meet technical and safety standards. Comprehensive inspections and training for bus drivers, supervisors, and transport coordinators have been conducted.

## Salama App for Parents

Parents are encouraged to use the Salama school transport app, which provides real-time tracking of bus journeys, boarding and alighting times, and expected arrival times. The app has been downloaded over 126,000 times, offering parents detailed information about drivers and supervisors.

## Driver Regulations

Strict regulations are in place for school bus drivers, including age and licensing requirements, language proficiency, and medical fitness checks. Drivers must ensure no child is left on the bus and adhere to speed limits and safety protocols, such as using stop arms and warning signals.
