DMT reopens key E20 interchange in time for school year

## Key Interchange Reopens

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has reopened the E20 interchange connecting Khalifa City and Zayed City, just in time for the new school year. This development is part of a major upgrade to improve traffic flow in the region.

## Increased Capacity

The project has added two new lanes to the highway, increasing the total to five lanes in both directions. This enhancement is expected to ease congestion and improve travel times for motorists commuting to and from Abu Dhabi City.

## Future Developments

While the western segment of the E20 is largely complete, further improvements are planned for the eastern section. A new interchange and additional lanes are scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027.

## Comprehensive Road Enhancements

The overall project aims to expand the arterial road from three to five lanes in each direction. It also includes the construction of two new bridges, 10.5 kilometers of ramps and loops, 1.5 kilometers of internal roads, and eight new traffic light junctions to enhance safety across Khalifa City and surrounding areas.
