## Etihad Rail Expansion
The Etihad Rail passenger service will extend to Dubai on September 30, 2026. This new route will connect Abu Dhabi's Mohamed bin Zayed City station with Dubai's Al Yalayis Station, with a travel time of approximately 57 minutes. The expansion also includes the opening of Al Dhaid station in Sharjah, as part of the network's second phase. Eventually, the rail network aims to link 11 cities across the UAE.
## Museum of the Future Closure
Dubai's Museum of the Future will close temporarily from September 1, 2026, for a major overhaul. The museum, which opened in February 2022, plans to introduce new immersive and interactive exhibits. It is expected to reopen in early 2027, featuring innovations in science, technology, and society.
## Excise Tax on E-Cigarette Liquids
Starting September 1, 2026, the UAE will implement a minimum excise price of Dh1 per millilitre for e-cigarette liquids. This measure aims to standardize excise tax compliance across tobacco and electronic smoking products. The new pricing will affect excise tax calculations, not retail prices.
## End of Dubai Mallathon
The Dubai Mallathon 2026 concludes on September 15. This annual event, running from June 15 to September 15, offers residents a chance to exercise indoors in air-conditioned malls, providing a comfortable alternative to outdoor activities during the hot summer months.
## Nafis Support Adjustments
Changes to Nafis support for Emiratis in the private and banking sectors will take effect in September. Salary support will be adjusted to between Dh3,000 and Dh6,000, based on education and family status. A new Dh600 monthly child allowance will be introduced, with no limit on the number of eligible children for those earning up to Dh50,000 monthly. Employers will also need to cover their share of contributions to the Eshtirak pension program.
