Vaibhav Sooryavanshi breaks 57-year-old record

## Youngest Half-Century Maker

Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made history in the Duleep Trophy by becoming the youngest player to score a half-century. Playing for East Zone against Central Zone in the semi-final, Sooryavanshi reached his fifty in just 42 balls, marking the achievement with a six.

## Breaking a 57-Year-Old Record

Sooryavanshi's record-breaking performance came at the age of 15 years and 157 days, surpassing the previous record held by Laxman Singh, who was 16 years and 23 days old when he set the milestone in 1969. Piyush Chawla was the next youngest, achieving a Duleep Trophy fifty at 16 years and 307 days in 2005.

## Nearing Tendulkar's Milestone

Though Sooryavanshi was close to another record, he fell short of a century, scoring 92 off 81 balls. The record for the youngest Duleep Trophy centurion remains with Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved it at 17 years and 262 days.

## Leadership Role

In addition to his batting achievements, Sooryavanshi also became the youngest captain of East Zone, stepping in after Ishan Kishan was injured.
