Logistics giant DHL plans to test Abu Dhabi-made delivery drones

## DHL's New Drone Initiative

DHL Express is set to explore the use of drones manufactured in Abu Dhabi for its delivery operations in the region. This initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with LODD Autonomous, a UAE-based drone manufacturer.

## Collaboration Details

The agreement involves integrating LODD's Hili unmanned aircraft into DHL's network. The two companies will conduct joint workshops to identify priority routes and assess the drones' potential in last-mile delivery.

## Advantages of Drone Deliveries

Bachi Spiga, DHL's VP for Network Operations in the Middle East and North Africa, highlighted the benefits of using drones in congested areas like the UAE. The Hili aircraft offers a sustainable solution to meet increasing delivery demands.

## LODD's Capabilities

Rashid Al Manai, CEO of LODD, emphasized the Hili drone's design, tailored for the region's needs. The drone can carry up to 250 kg and has a range of 700 km, making it suitable for both urban and long-distance deliveries.

## Future Prospects

This collaboration aims to position the UAE as a leader in autonomous cargo operations, supporting the country's vision for innovative infrastructure. The focus will be on optimizing routes, payloads, and ensuring safe deployment.
