## Campaign Overview
The UAE's Ministry of Interior has launched a new initiative titled "Safe Road for Our Students" to enhance safety for children traveling to and from school. This campaign, part of the Federal Traffic Council's efforts, aims to educate students, parents, and school bus personnel on safe practices.
## Key Guidelines
Students are encouraged to arrive at bus stops five minutes early, remain calm during the ride, and keep a safe distance from the bus after disembarking. Supervisors are tasked with assisting students during boarding and alighting, as well as monitoring behavior and reporting absences.
Parents are advised to accompany their children to bus stops and ensure someone is present to receive them at school. Schools should provide secure areas for boarding and disembarking and maintain communication with parents.
## Responsibilities of Bus Drivers
Bus drivers must conduct daily vehicle inspections, stop only in safe areas, and ensure students are seated with seat belts fastened. They are also required to activate the "Stop" sign when students are boarding or leaving the bus. Motorists must halt in both directions when the "Stop" sign is displayed.
## Penalties for Non-Compliance
Failure to comply with these regulations can result in fines. Motorists who do not stop for a school bus "Stop" sign face a fine of AED1,000 and 10 traffic points. School bus drivers who fail to activate the sign face a fine of AED500 and six traffic points.
