## Afghan Forces Respond to Pakistani Air Strikes
Afghanistan's military initiated significant attacks on Pakistani border positions on Thursday. This move came as a response to recent air strikes by Pakistan, which reportedly resulted in civilian casualties.
## Military Operations in Eastern Provinces
The Afghan military, particularly in Nangarhar and Kunar provinces, targeted Pakistani outposts. Afghan officials confirmed the operations, stating there were no Afghan casualties reported so far.
## Rising Tensions and Cross-Border Fire
The conflict follows Pakistani air strikes in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces, which the UN reported killed at least 13 civilians. The Taliban government claims 18 people died, contradicting Pakistan's report of over 80 militant deaths.
## Strained Relations and Border Closures
Relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan have deteriorated, with border crossings mostly closed since October due to previous deadly clashes. Pakistan accuses Afghanistan of harboring militants responsible for attacks within its borders, a claim Afghanistan denies.
