Dubai-Sharjah traffic: RTA upgrade to cut peak-hour delays by 15%

## New Traffic Solutions

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has introduced upgrades at the Al Qiyadah Intersection to alleviate traffic congestion on the Dubai-Sharjah corridor. These changes are expected to reduce peak-hour delays by up to 15%.

## Key Improvements

A new left-turn lane has been added from Al Ittihad Road to Abu Hail Street, aimed at improving traffic flow towards Salah Al Din Street. This lane was created by repurposing existing parking spaces and part of the central median.

## Traffic Signal Adjustments

Traffic signals at the intersection have been recalibrated to support the new lane configuration. The project also involved road and pavement enhancements, along with modifications to concrete barriers.

## Additional Parking

New parking spaces have been introduced along Abu Hail Street, and lighting poles have been installed in existing parking areas. These improvements are designed to facilitate smoother traffic between local roads and Al Ittihad Road, especially around the intersection's approaches and exits.

## Strategic Location

Al Qiyadah Intersection is a critical point on Al Ittihad Road, serving as a major route for motorists traveling between Dubai and Sharjah. It also connects to key roads in Deira, such as Abu Hail Street and Salah Al Din Street.
