‘There is still no answer’: Nepali expat in Sharjah awaits news of missing friend in devastating floods

## Nepali Expat's Concern

Dipesh Poudel, a Nepali expatriate living in Sharjah, is anxiously waiting for news about his friend, Pemba Sherpa, who went missing during the recent devastating floods in Nepal. The floods, which occurred on August 26, have left many areas near the Nepal-China border severely affected.

## Missing Tour Group

Sherpa, who had returned to Nepal after living in Dubai for nearly 15 years, was part of a tour group traveling to Mansarovar in Tibet. The group, consisting of 27 people including 17 Malaysians, two UK nationals, and one US national, lost contact after reaching the border area. Poudel shared that Sherpa last communicated with his family on the morning of the floods.

## Ongoing Rescue Efforts

The Nepalese government is actively involved in rescue operations, but the scale of the disaster has made progress slow. Poudel expressed that the uncertainty is difficult for families waiting for news. Despite the challenges, international support, including aid from the UAE, has been welcomed.

## Hope Amidst Uncertainty

Poudel remains hopeful that Sherpa and the other missing individuals will be found. He expressed gratitude for the relief efforts and the support from the global community, which has been crucial in this time of crisis.
