## Scandal Hits Reform UK Conference
Nigel Farage's Reform UK party is embroiled in a fresh controversy over alleged breaches of donation rules. The scandal emerged during the party's annual conference in Birmingham, where two senior officials resigned following an undercover investigation by Channel 4 News. The investigation suggested they attempted to secure a foreign donation, which is illegal under UK electoral law.
## Resignations and Investigations
James Orr and Dan Jukes stepped down from their positions pending an internal investigation. The ruling Labour Party has reported Reform UK to the police, claiming the party accepted funding from a US firm for opinion polls earlier this year. The supposed donors were undercover reporters from Verbatim, an investigative journalism group.
## Farage's Response
Nigel Farage, 62, denied any wrongdoing, claiming the party was a victim of entrapment. Despite recent successes in local elections, Reform UK has seen a decline in opinion polls, trailing behind Labour under new Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
## Financial Scrutiny
Farage is also under investigation for a £5 million donation from British cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne. Farage insists the funds were for security purposes and were received before his election, thus not requiring parliamentary declaration.
## Political Implications
Reform UK, which focuses on anti-immigration policies, aims to challenge Labour's dominance. However, the party holds only eight seats in the 650-seat parliament despite a significant vote share in the 2024 general election. The ongoing investigations could lead to further political challenges for Farage, including a potential suspension from parliament.
