## Introduction of UK eVisas
Starting February 25, 2026, the UK will implement a digital eVisa system, moving away from physical visa stickers. This change is part of a broader effort by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) to modernize the immigration process.
## Benefits for UAE Residents
The new eVisa system allows applicants to retain their passports while their UK visa applications are processed. This is particularly beneficial for UAE residents, many of whom are expatriates, as it enables them to apply for other visas simultaneously and travel home during the application period.
## Application Process
To apply for a UK eVisa, applicants must complete an online form on the UK government website, schedule an appointment with VFS Global, and visit a Visa Application Centre to submit documents and biometrics. After this, they can keep their passports and await the visa decision via email.
## Advantages of eVisas
The eVisa system eliminates the need for passport retention, allowing for greater flexibility in travel plans. Applicants can apply from their country of residence and travel to the UK from anywhere once the eVisa is granted. This digital transition aims to streamline the process and reduce reliance on physical documents.
