Tadweer links sustainability with UAE heritage at ADIHEX 2026

## Tadweer at ADIHEX 2026

Tadweer Group made its debut at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) 2026, held from August 28 to September 6. The event took place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). Tadweer showcased a pavilion under the theme 'Legacy of Sustainability,' emphasizing the historical connection between sustainability and UAE heritage.

## Emphasizing Traditional Practices

The pavilion highlighted how sustainability has been a part of Emirati culture for generations. Traditional practices such as reuse, repair, and resource management were presented in a modern context, illustrating their relevance to today's environmental challenges.

## Advancing Waste Management

Tadweer is shifting the perception of waste from a disposable material to a valuable resource. The group aims to divert 80% of municipal solid waste from landfills in Abu Dhabi by 2031. This goal will be achieved through enhanced treatment, recycling solutions, and a stronger circular economy.

## Technological Innovations

Etienne Petit, CEO of Tadweer, discussed the integration of advanced technologies to improve waste management. New facilities in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain will employ mechanical sorting, sensors, and optical technologies, with a capacity to process up to 400,000 tonnes annually. Additionally, Abu Dhabi's first waste-to-energy plant will handle 900,000 tonnes of waste each year, generating 80 megawatts of electricity.

## Focus on Resource Recovery

Tadweer is investing in AI, automation, and data analytics to boost efficiency and resource recovery. The aim is to make resource recovery commercially viable, producing materials for industrial use and reducing landfill reliance. Key waste streams include food waste, metals, paper, and electronic waste, which can be transformed into new products or energy.

## Long-term Goals

Tadweer is committed to retaining material value within the local economy and reducing landfill dependency. The group's infrastructure investments align with its ambition to significantly increase recycling and resource recovery by 2031.
