## Dubai Airport Tops Connectivity Rankings
Dubai International Airport (DXB) has been recognized as the most connected airport in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions for 2025. According to the Airports Council International's latest index, DXB's hub connectivity score is nearly 40% higher than its closest competitor.
## Regional Competitors
Shanghai Pudong International Airport ranks second in total air connectivity, followed by South Korea's Incheon International Airport. Other top contenders include Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Doha's Hamad International Airport.
## Growth in Connectivity
Overall connectivity among the 315 airports in the index grew by 11% in 2025. The Middle East saw a 21% increase, driven by expanding Gulf airline networks, while Asia-Pacific recorded a 10% rise.
## Expanding Networks
A significant number of airports, 74%, experienced growth in connectivity. Notably, Chinese airports like Shanghai Pudong and Guangzhou Baiyun made significant gains, with Shanghai Pudong seeing a 32% increase.
## International and Domestic Trends
International city pairs in the regions grew by 10% in 2025, while domestic pairs returned to growth after a previous decline. Asia-Pacific passengers predominantly traveled within the region, with intercontinental traffic also rising.
## Challenges in 2026
The first half of 2026 has been challenging, particularly in the Middle East, where connectivity dropped by 23% due to regional conflicts affecting flight schedules. Despite this, Asia-Pacific saw a slight increase in passenger traffic.
