## New Naming Rights Agreement
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a new 10-year naming rights agreement for a metro station. The station, previously known as Onpassive Metro Station, will now be called Garmin Metro Station. This change is part of RTA's initiative to involve global brands in the metro's naming rights program, aiming to enhance private investment in the city's transport infrastructure.
## Partnership Details
The naming rights were secured by Garmin, a well-known technology company specializing in smart devices and GPS products. The agreement was facilitated through AMIT Retail LLC, Garmin's exclusive distributor in the UAE. This move marks Garmin as the first global brand to acquire naming rights for a station on the Dubai Metro Red Line.
## Implementation Timeline
The transition to the new station name will occur from September to November 2026. During this period, RTA will update signage, digital systems, and public transport apps to reflect the new name. Passengers will notice changes in onboard announcements and station signs, and RTA staff will be available to assist with any inquiries during the transition.
## Strategic Importance
Abdul Mohsen Kalbat, CEO of RTA’s Rail Agency, emphasized that this partnership underscores the success of the naming rights program in attracting leading brands. The initiative aims to foster stronger ties with businesses and encourage private-sector investment to support Dubai's economic growth. Garmin's CEO, Clifton Pemble, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the opportunity to connect their technology with commuters in Dubai.
