## Disturbing Discovery in Texas
A welfare check on a 73-year-old woman in Texas led to a grim discovery when deputies found her body inside a duffel bag at her home. The woman's 34-year-old son, Arman Malik, has been charged with murder.
## Investigation Details
The investigation began after a family member reported being unable to contact the woman. Deputies forced entry into the home on Valley Knoll Drive in west Harris County on September 1. Inside, they found Malik asleep and a blood-stained sheet in the room. Upon further inspection, they discovered the woman's body wrapped in bloody sheets and a rug inside the duffel bag.
## Evidence and Charges
Court records indicate Malik allegedly struck his mother in the head, causing serious injury. Initially charged with tampering with a corpse, Malik now faces a murder charge. Investigators also noted that security cameras in the home were disabled, and they found dried blood under Malik's fingernails.
## Community and Legal Proceedings
Neighbors reported that Malik had recently moved in with his mother, who had expressed concerns about his presence. Malik was taken to the hospital after losing consciousness and later booked into Harris County Jail. His bond is set at $1 million, and he is scheduled to appear in court on October 12. His defense attorney claims Malik has psychological issues requiring treatment.
