## Festival Overview
Sharjah is set to host its inaugural Jashe and Sahnah Festival in Kalba from September 24 to 27. This four-day event aims to celebrate the rich maritime heritage of the UAE's east coast, focusing on traditional fishing practices and local products.
## Event Highlights
The festival will feature a variety of activities, including competitions, educational workshops, and sessions on marine sustainability and responsible fishing. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about traditional methods of preparing Jashe, which is sun-dried fish, and Sahnah, a condiment made from dried fish and spices.
## Participating Entities
Organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Kalba City Municipality, the festival will see participation from six government and community entities. These include the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority, Sharjah Museums Authority, and the Environment and Protected Areas Authority, among others.
## Economic and Cultural Impact
The event is expected to attract families and tourists from across the UAE and beyond, boosting local economic activity and community engagement. It will also provide a platform for productive families and home-based businesses to showcase and sell their products.
## Supporting Traditional Industries
Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, emphasized the festival's role in supporting coastal food industries and transforming traditional practices into economically viable products. Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Mazrouei, Director of Kalba Municipality, highlighted the festival's potential to enhance community involvement and promote local culture.
