## Ferry Fire Near Coron

A fire broke out on the M/V June Aster ferry near Coron, Palawan, on Wednesday evening, resulting in at least five fatalities. The Philippine Coast Guard is currently searching for 84 missing individuals, including the ship's captain and chief engineer.

According to a Coast Guard spokesperson, the fire spread rapidly after an explosion was heard, leaving little time for passengers to react. Many survivors were unable to put on life jackets before escaping the vessel.

The ferry, which had departed from Manila, is now grounded about a kilometer from Coron. Coast Guard personnel are battling smoke as they attempt to enter the ship for firefighting operations.
