Middle East escalation: Iranian strikes hit US aircraft in Jordan, Brent crude tops $107 after Houthi seizure of Mocha, vessels attacked near Oman's Khasab

## Iranian Strikes in Jordan

Iranian forces have reportedly targeted US military aircraft at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The attack resulted in damage to several aircraft, including an A-10 attack plane and multiple F-15 fighter jets. The strikes were part of escalating tensions following US military actions against Iranian oil tankers.

## Houthi Seizure of Mocha

In Yemen, Houthi forces have taken control of the strategic Red Sea port of Mocha. This move has caused Brent crude oil prices to surge above $107 per barrel. The Houthis' control of this area, along with nearby islands, threatens a key shipping route that handles a significant portion of global oil supplies.

## Regional Implications

The situation has prompted Saudi Arabia to activate early warning systems in its Asir region due to potential threats from Houthi missile and drone attacks. Meanwhile, Iran plans to discuss the strategic Strait of Hormuz with Gulf states in Oman, aiming to address regional security concerns.

## Global Reactions

The developments have heightened global concerns over oil supply disruptions and regional stability. The US military is reportedly worried about declining stocks of defensive munitions amid the ongoing conflict.
