## Islamic Guidelines on Breaking Fast
The UAE Council for Fatwa has clarified the repercussions for those who intentionally break their fast during Ramadan. Such an act is deemed a serious violation under Islamic law, requiring sincere repentance and specific compensatory actions.
## Required Actions for Repentance
Individuals who break their fast deliberately must first express genuine remorse and resolve not to repeat the act. They are encouraged to increase their prayers and seek forgiveness during this holy month.
## Compensation and Expiation
To atone for the broken fast, individuals must make up the missed day after Ramadan. Additionally, they are required to perform an expiation, which involves either fasting for two consecutive months or feeding 60 needy individuals. The council highlights that providing food is often the preferred method.
## Financial Expiation Details
The financial aspect of the expiation is set at Dh1,200, with each needy person receiving Dh20. This amount should be distributed through approved charitable organizations in the UAE to ensure it reaches those in need.
