## Islamic Guidelines on Breaking Fast
The UAE Council for Fatwa has clarified the implications of intentionally breaking a fast during Ramadan. Such an act is considered a serious violation under Islamic law, requiring specific actions to atone for the sin.
## Required Actions for Atonement
Individuals who deliberately break their fast must sincerely repent and express remorse for their actions. They are also required to make up for the missed fasting day after Ramadan concludes.
## Expiation Options
To further compensate, the council mandates either fasting for two consecutive months or feeding 60 needy individuals for each day the fast was broken. The preferred method is often providing food.
## Financial Expiation
The council has set the financial expiation at Dh1,200, with each needy person receiving Dh20. This payment should be made through approved charitable organizations in the UAE to ensure proper distribution to those in need.
