## Islamic Guidelines on Breaking Fast
The UAE Council for Fatwa has clarified the repercussions for intentionally breaking a fast during Ramadan. This act is deemed a serious violation of Islamic principles and requires specific actions to atone for the sin.
## Required Actions for Repentance
Individuals who break their fast deliberately must sincerely repent and resolve not to repeat the act. They are encouraged to increase their prayers and seek forgiveness.
## Compensation and Expiation
To compensate for the missed fast, individuals must make up the day after Ramadan. Additionally, they are required to perform an expiation, which involves either fasting for two consecutive months or feeding 60 needy people. The latter is often preferred.
## Financial Expiation Details
The financial expiation is set at Dh1,200, with each needy person receiving Dh20. This amount should be distributed through approved charitable organizations in the UAE to ensure it reaches those in need.
