## Islamic Guidelines on Breaking Fast
The UAE Council for Fatwa has clarified the repercussions for those who intentionally break their fast during Ramadan. Such an act is deemed a serious violation under Islamic law, requiring sincere repentance and compensation.
## Required Actions for Repentance
Individuals who deliberately break their fast must express genuine remorse and commit to not repeating the offense. They are encouraged to increase their prayers and seek forgiveness.
## Compensation and Expiation
To atone for the broken fast, individuals must make up the missed day after Ramadan. Additionally, they are required to either fast for two consecutive months or feed 60 needy people as expiation. The council suggests that providing food is often the preferred method.
## Financial Expiation Details
The financial equivalent for expiation is set at Dh1,200, with each needy person receiving Dh20. This amount should be distributed through approved charitable organizations in the UAE to ensure proper allocation to those in need.
