Dubai approves 80km Fourth Corridor to cut travel time

## Major Infrastructure Project Approved

Dubai has greenlit an ambitious infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity between the emirates. The new 80-kilometer Fourth Corridor is designed to significantly reduce travel times, potentially cutting them by up to 60%.

## Key Features of the Corridor

The project, endorsed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will stretch from Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi to Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah. It will feature a 12-lane highway capable of handling 24,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.

## Extensive Infrastructure

The corridor will include 72 bridges, 17 tunnels, and 45 stormwater drainage culverts. These elements are integral to creating a robust transport link across the UAE, connecting key areas and enhancing the movement of goods and people.

## Strategic Connectivity

This new route will also link with Al Maktoum International Airport and Etihad Rail, bolstering connections between road, rail, and air transport. This integration is expected to support the logistics and commercial transport sectors, improving access to residential, industrial, and commercial hubs.

## Investment and Impact

The first phase of the project is valued at approximately Dh3.5 billion. It is part of Dubai's broader strategy to expand and modernize its road network, enhancing inter-emirate connectivity and supporting economic growth.
