## Unique Miniature Quran on Display

A rare 19th-century Quran, measuring just 26mm in height, is being showcased at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. This miniature edition, produced by David Bryce, is priced at £2,750.

## Historical Significance

Printed in Glasgow during the late 1890s, this Quran was the first European-printed miniature edition. It was designed for Muslim readers in Europe, the Indian subcontinent, East Africa, and the Middle East.

## Technical and Commercial Success

The Quran was initially sold with a protective metal locket featuring a magnifying lens, highlighting its technical innovation and commercial appeal. Earlier versions were produced in India and the Ottoman Empire, but Bryce's edition gained unmatched popularity.

## Original Features

The Quran is photolithographed in Arabic and retains its original red leather binding with gilt decoration. It is housed in its original metal locket, maintaining the format in which it was first issued.
