Rashmika Mandanna to play MS Subbulakshmi, Anirudh Ravichander scores music

## Biopic Launch

Rashmika Mandanna is set to portray the iconic Carnatic singer MS Subbulakshmi in a new biopic. The film, titled "MS: A Legacy On Screen," was officially launched in Chennai on the 110th birth anniversary of Subbulakshmi. The event was held at the Music Academy and featured live performances of her songs by the Indian Choral Ensemble. Attendees were encouraged to wear "MS Blue" in honor of the singer.

## Production Details

The biopic is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, known for his work on "Jersey," with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The film is a joint production by Geetha Arts, Rockline Entertainment, and Bunny Vas Works, with producers Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh, and Bunny Vas. Kamal Haasan, a prominent actor and politician, attended the launch as the chief guest and marked the beginning of production with the ceremonial first clap.

## Rashmika's Role

Rashmika expressed her excitement and sense of responsibility in playing Subbulakshmi, a revered cultural figure in India. She described the role as a significant honor and a blessing.

## MS Subbulakshmi's Legacy

Born in 1916 in Madurai, MS Subbulakshmi became a celebrated Carnatic vocalist, performing at the Madras Music Academy at age 13. She was the first musician to receive the Bharat Ratna and the Ramon Magsaysay Award. In 1966, she performed at the United Nations General Assembly. Subbulakshmi passed away in 2004 at the age of 88.

## Rashmika's Upcoming Projects

In addition to the biopic, Rashmika has several projects lined up. She recently starred in "Cocktail 2" and will appear alongside Vijay Deverakonda in "Ranabaali," a period drama. She is also set to feature in the action film "Mysaa."
