Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is set to introduce a new initiative providing one-gram gold rings to newborns in government hospitals. The scheme, named 'Thaimaaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam', will officially start on September 28. Initially, 1.28 lakh rings have been procured for distribution. Each ring will feature a unique serial number and come in tamper-proof packaging. This initiative aims to support families and encourage childbirth in government facilities, with eligibility limited to permanent residents of Tamil Nadu.

## Expansion of Breakfast Programme

In addition to the gold ring scheme, CM Vijay will expand the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme on September 22. This expansion will benefit approximately 15.3 lakh students in Classes VI to VIII across 15,454 government and aided schools. The state has allocated an additional Rs217.63 crore for this programme, raising its total budget to Rs724 crore. The breakfast initiative is designed to enhance student nutrition and ensure they start their school day with a nutritious meal.
